In 2018, we partnered with St. Jude to name a Child Life Specialist’s office in honor of Olivia. The Child Life Specialists are a team of very special people vital to St. Jude and they are a core reason St. Jude is so special. The Child Life Program helps reduce the stress and anxiety as much as possible for children and families of St. Jude. Nineteen full-time child life specialists work to help children cope with the challenges of health care and hospitalization. These services are offered to all families in all clinical areas. They create many opportunities for children to play and express themselves. These therapeutic activities promote patients’ and siblings’ development and enhance their coping skills. The activities also provide an outlet for feelings, peer interaction and a sense of mastery.
